"Welcome to LFC. Thank you for visiting this page. When we raise money from our community, not only do we provide computers to families, fix computers for ~$10/hour, rescue computers from being unused any longer, but as importantly, we give our volunteers a place to be; a place to feel welcomed, a place to boost their confidence, and maybe even a place to relieve [some of those that have] depression, or are in a rut of some kind. They have purpose here they might not have anywhere else, and of course, they build their skills, not only technical, but interpersonal. We believe in the power of people; that they can do more than they realize with encouragement, love and guidance.
LFC does a lot with a little. We're a strong organization with a lot of heart and a positive culture- come by and and you'll feel it instantly. When operating a non-profit, the money is almost always tight. Of course, with more of it, we can help more people, therefore having a happier, more self-sufficient Monterey County. We must rely on volunteers (some who have been with us for 4-5 years) and donations, of equipment, food and money. There are many nonprofits worthy of our community's support, and we are one of them. LFC provides a unique set of services no other Monterey County nonprofit does, or can.

What is the Digital Divide?

It's estimated there are over 68,000 Monterey County residents living at or below the poverty line. Without computers or regular online access to information, low income families often fall into the "digital divide". Unable to buy and/or use technology that many employers, schools and government institutions have come to expect, these families can fall further and further behind.
LFC's volunteers are here to address that problem. They rebuild computers, provide low-cost diagnosis and low-cost tech support to low income families. For more information on the digital divide, watch this video by the Pew Research Center's Internet and American Life Project. |

How Can You Support LFC?
1. Gift a financial donation to LFC via our Paypal page to support our general overhead expenses.
2. Support Digital Inclusion
- Change a life by providing your used computer to us! Your gift encourages the positive, life-enriching skills of learning and sharing for our volunteers and clients and makes use of equipment that doesn't belong in our local landfill.
3. Volunteer with us. Either in our daily operations, or apply to be on our board of directors.
3. Support Our Volunteers
- Donate Food. Food is love to our volunteers, and fuels their day with support and nourishment. Stop in and drop off your care package- Our volunteers will love you for it.
- Donate Fun. Our volunteers work hard, so they need time to play as a team. Movie Tickets, Car Washes, Local Laguna Seca or Pebble beach events- enrich their lives, offer them perspective, and encourage them to keep on volunteering.
- Donate Fuel. Our volunteers drive their cars every day- Some from Greenfield 3x/week. That's a lot of gas. Many of our volunteers are low-income. They would love to have some of their costs covered.
